The cats, like everything that I make, start out as lumps of clay - no molds used. The bodies for the bells and banks are thrown on the potter's wheel and then I incorporate handbuilt additions. Because each piece is made by hand, and I'm human, no two are exactly alike. I envision each cat as a little singer or having a lot to say. These guys were inspired by our own gang of cats that we've had over the years.
The cat banks (and my studio) will have their television debut later in 2008 on HGTV's show That's Clever! I'll be demonstrating how I make the banks in 7 minutes or less.
